What information I collect

I collect information in two ways. Information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you visit the site.

Information you provide

  • Your name, email, phone number, and company details when you contact me or fill in a form
  • Information about your business, website, and goals when you request an audit or sign up for a service
  • Payment and billing information if you become a client (handled through third-party processors, not stored by me)

Information collected automatically

  • Your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages you visit on the site and how long you spend on them
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the site)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see the Cookie Policy)

How I use your information

  • To respond to enquiries and provide services you have requested
  • To deliver audits, reports, and other deliverables
  • To send service-related communications (project updates, invoices, reports)
  • To improve the website and understand which content is useful
  • To comply with legal obligations

Legal basis for processing

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), I rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent: When you submit a form or sign up for something, your consent is the basis for processing that data
  • Contract: When you become a client, processing is necessary to deliver the contracted service
  • Legitimate interests: For analytics, fraud prevention, and improving the site
  • Legal obligation: For things like tax records and statutory requirements

How long I keep your data

  • Enquiry data: 12 months after the last interaction, unless you become a client
  • Client data: For the duration of the engagement plus 7 years (Irish Revenue requirement)
  • Analytics data: 14 months (Google Analytics default)

Who I share your data with

I do not sell your data. I share limited information only with the following third parties for the specific purposes of running the business:

  • Google (Analytics, Search Console, Ads management for clients) - data processed under Google's GDPR terms
  • Vercel (website hosting) - server logs and visitor data
  • Calendly (call booking) - booking details
  • Formspree (contact forms) - form submissions
  • Stripe / Revolut (payment processing for clients) - billing details
  • HMRC and Irish Revenue (when legally required)

International data transfers

Some of the services listed above are based in the US or elsewhere outside the EEA. Where this is the case, I rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards approved by the European Commission.

Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data I hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (with some exceptions for legal obligations)
  • Object to certain types of processing
  • Restrict processing in certain circumstances
  • Request your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie)

To exercise any of these rights, email charlie@cj-digimarketing.com. I will respond within 30 days.

How I protect your data

I use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), strong passwords, two-factor authentication on accounts that hold client data, and reputable third-party processors with their own security certifications. No system is 100% secure but I take this seriously.

Children's data

This site is not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

I will update this policy as needed. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. For material changes, I will notify clients directly.

A note: This privacy policy is written to be GDPR-compliant for an Irish sole trader. Before going live, you should review the third parties listed (Vercel, Formspree, Calendly, Stripe, etc.) and update if your actual setup differs. Replace placeholder details with your specifics. Consider a one-off solicitor review (€100 to €250) before publishing.
